Sage

Ancient of days

what would you say

to the one who has passed you

along the way

Do you have tales

on men of old

who have traveled your path

as history unfolds

Have you seen war and peace

tribulation than love

the chronicles of humanity

in the makings of

Memories as you’ve witnessed

the worse and best of mankind

recorded in the annuals of nature

and preserved throughout all time

Eden

A Mother’s Love

Not a day goes by

that I don’t think of you

imagining your sweet face

so pure and true

sometimes I wonder if you’d looked like me

the color of your hair

those beautiful eyes

the shape of your nose

or your tiny smile

I bet you would be sassy, spirited, and smart

just like your sister

Or adventerous, down to earth, and funny

just like your brother

Oh these thoughts of you

brings me joy

as I carry you in my heart

for one sweet day

I’ll see you again

my precious angel

my baby love

my little garden of Eden

The Candle Still Burns

There comes a time to reach for the sky

where imagination and possibilities

linger idly by

when as a young girl

in the month of July

a birthday wish

a candle

in the blink of an eye

dreams set in motion

time tends to fly

and now I’m a woman

molded stronger by and by

to nuture and strengthen

a wish made long ago

to be my own hero

my candle still burns

Shadow and Light

Sometimes I wonder

when thinking of you

how life is so precious

and yet we live through

the heartaches of life

where no one is spared

taking for granted

we’ll always be there

the veil is then torn

between life and death

tomorrows never promised

love with no regrets

The Gift

Beyond that great horizon

that separates earth from sky

lies the Sun in all it’s brilliance

as Cumulus floats on by

A luminous orb of light

Helios wildly shines

rays like chariots of fire

piercing quick and divine

and then the Sol meets it’s equal

standing at Neptunes door

where once it’s light was blinding

come softly near the shore

Reflection 2019

Looking into reflective waters

another year comes to an end

like a sunrise and a sunset

time continuously transcends

The rising of the morning sun

when things are so brand new

beginning a fresh journey in life

with lots of hope coming through

And as time moves on

like ripples of water

quickly flowing downstream

the good, the bad, and the ugly

fills the dash of life inbetween

And just like a runner in a race

who sees the finish up ahead

when there’s too much distance

one never looks back

but pushes forward instead

then sunset appears with bursting colors

just around the bend

it’s time for a new cycle in life

the old must come to an end

For life can be just like a race

always a choice to ascend

it doesn’t matter how one starts the year

but it matters how you end

Dear Friend

In this journey of life

there are many faces

that will cross your path

in different places

of stages in life

some stay and some go

you can count on one hand

those who remain know

to hold someones heart

is a privilege from above

not to be trampled

but protected in love

when you’re happy, they’re happy

and when you hurt, they hurt

a genuine friend dirties their hands

in all of your messiness overt

whether it’s friendship or love

always choose the first

but to have friendship and love

a true bond unrehearsed

Breathe

A new day has come

where blue skies are bluer

green grass is greener

and harsh winds has become gentler as it brushes against my face

The chirp of the birds are cheerier

the light of the sun much brighter

and the rough ocean water now cleanses as it trickles down my skin

The flow of air seems lighter

the path ahead much clearer

and the time has come

to simply breathe again

Remember

Remember

when you were young in spirit

venturing away

no cares of the world

only dreams of play

Remember

when your childlike exploits

were innocent and pure

adventerous and curious

confident and assured

Remember

when nothing could stop

that fire inside

the world was your oyster

intuition your guide

Remember

when your voice was enough

and your heart led the way

the noise of the world

never led you astray

Do you remember?

Going the Distance

A flock of seabirds

frolicking in the sand

mimicking one another

playing catch me if you can

As one takes off into the air

it’s joined by a dozen more

gliding over rippling waves

ready to explore

The vastness of the coral reefs

full of little surprises

landing to feed just a bit

as the morning sun arises

The group takes off in flight again

the tide begins to swirl

flying where the wind may take them

waking up the world
